Description

Confucius Institute Directors External Communications Workshop

Washington, DC, September 15-16, 2018

Confucius Institute Directors in the US today face an extraordinary challenge: how to articulate the value of the many contributions that CIs make to their students, universities, and local communities, and respond to the negative and uninformed stories about Confucius Institutes in the media and elsewhere.

The Confucius Institute U.S. Center invites you to a workshop during the 2018 National Honors Gala to develop an action plan to address these challenges. At this workshop, you will:

  • Meet with Hanban representatives
  • Learn external relations strategies and develop a marketing and communications plan to engage with your local community and recruit and retain students
  • Share communications and marketing strategies and collateral
  • Meet other Confucius Institute Directors
  • Build the Confucius Institute network/community in the US

One session will provide the opportunity to share and review Confucius Institute marketing materials. Please share electronic versions of your materials (annual report, brochures, newsletters, etc.) before arrival by uploading them here.

At the conclusion of this workshop, you will have developed an action plan to empower your Confucius Institute to engage your college or university community to further Chinese language and culture education in your local community.

The Confucius Institute National Honors Gala is an annual CIUS Center showcase that celebrates the Confucius Institutes’ core educational value—the achievements of our students. Ten exemplary honorees selected from throughout the United States will receive high-level recognition and share their CI learning stories before policymakers, corporate leaders, and educators.
